Season 2.1; Episode 4: Lilith Leaves then Leaves Again

Series 2; Episode 4:

Lilith Leaves then Leaves Again

Chapter 1:
Lilith Leaves

Previously on the History of Pleasantview, Lilith is disgruntled by the lack of attention she receives from her family members during such a fragile *period* of her life, and tells them she is leaving, and never coming back. Her father is used to hearing this kind of talk, thus he welcomes her out the door, unaware that this time, SHE ACTUALLY MEANT IT.
Lilith was not coming back.

The first person Lilith turned to upon leaving home, was the only person she ever felt loved her - Dustin Broke, but it was a difficult time for Dustin, who had become a hardened street thug, flinging with heaps of Pleasantview's young ladies. Lilith was in such a state of desperation that she refused to see that Dustin wasn't interested. She insisted that he loved her, that she was the only girl for him.

Dustin insisted that she go somewhere else, but she never relented. Dustin simply couldn't turn down a homeless girl. And when Beau moved out to University, the time was right. Lilith moved in to Woodland Drive, along with the strange former burglar Gordon King.
When Lilith moved in and starting sleeping in Dustin's bed, they officially became a couple, and so, they decided to do what most destitute young couples do during troubled financial times - have a baby. Before Dustin realize what he was doing, it was too late. He was going to become a father.

Within a matter of days, Lilith's stomach swelled twofold; her thighs expanded all the way down to her heels and her skin turned the color of bleached cement mixed with stale milk. She started gorging on food; which only worsened the situation; and she spent most of her time vomiting into Dustin's toilet. Funnily enough, the pregnancy didn't stop her from pursuing her bubble blowing addiction, despite the doctor's endless warnings of Fetal Bubble Syndrome. The childbirth was long and painful, but it turned out well in the end. She named the baby Kane, after her favorite pro wrestler.

Kane was a downright nuisance, throwing up on her face all the time, but Lilith had been through worse. She just hoped it would pay off eventually, and one day Dustin would quit his criminal activities, become a successful doctor/lawyer and pay more attention to his family. Everything was riding on Dustin's continued support, so we cannot blame Lilith for being a bit optimistic.
But Dustin did little to
strengthen the optimism. He was rarely present at home, unless to host a big party or to sleep. His life barely changed since having a child, and one would not assume a baby was being raised in the hellhole of 55 Woodland Drive.

Just as she was during her childhood, she was being ignored, hidden away in the dark corners. This was Lilith's lot in life, and it seemed it would remain that way. While Dustin partied and played the days away, Lilith spend her time watching over young Kane and reading old books. But she was not unhappy, because she still had faith in the future. But Dustin be testing that faith soon enough.

Chapter 2:
Lilith Leaves Again

Not too long after Lilith gave birth, her sister Angela graduated from University with a Major in Natural Sciences. To celebrate, Dustin decided to throw a rad, wild party to celebrate. Of course, Angela wasn't there, but he looked for any excuse.

He decided this would be the sickest, maddest party Woodland drive had ever seen. He invited everybody - his friends; people he knew; people he sort of knew and people he didn't know. That included all his old lady friends, such as Tosha Go. He was so keen to have everyone over that he forgot what had happened between Lilith and Tosha last season!

But that didn't matter to Dustin. The moment he laid eyes on Tosha, he couldn't stop thinking to himself 'I just wanna have sex with that girl.'

He approached Tosha for the first time in ages. The last time, they had been children, now they were children in adult bodies.

'Long time no see,' spoke Tosha

'Long time no sex, either,' replied Dustin. Before you know it, they were fondling, right in the presence of tiny little Orlando Bertino who had been invited for no reason. But thanks to young Orlando, the word got out about Dustin's cheating. Dustin had learned his lesson about inviting little snitches who couldn't handle the real world, but Lilith was still furious.

She didn't confront Dustin. What would be the point? She had known Dustin to cheat in the past, and she forgave him. Did she simply expect having a baby with him would change him forever? Despite the fact that he had not changed at all since Kane was born? Hell, she was pretty sure he didn't even know he was called Kane.

She simply approached Dustin with Kane in her hands, and said 'Dustin, I'm leaving, and you can take your child! See how you like raising him without my help!'

'Wait, Lilith!' Dustin shouted, 'don't leave me! I can change, I tell ya! I CAN CHANGE!'

'Don't worry about her,' Gordon King said.

'You're probably right. I never thought of it that way.' Dustin said, and they continued partying as Lilith disappeared into the darkness.

And so, Lilith has taken another wrong step on her journey. But with it she will take caution for the future. Ever since she was a little child, Lilith has been on a journey to discover who, if anybody, will accept her for who she is. Where will she go to now? Who will take her? Series 2.1; Episode 1: Orphans of the Storm

Series 2; Episode 1:

Orphans of the Storm

Chapter One:

A Losing Battle

Last year, we left the Broke brothers in a helpless position indeed. The elder of the two, Dustin, had resorted to crime to keep his little brother fed. Yes, life was harsh. The two broke Brokes of 55 Woodland drive were all alone in the world, with nobody to care for them but each other.

It wasn't until the death of his mother, that Dustin came to appreciate the difficulty of running and maintaining a home. Nearly everything seemed to catch on fire; cleaning things only made them dirtier, and his friends treated their home like a public service.

The idea of cooking dinner didn't work out, so he decided that nothing could go wrong with potato chips for dinner. After all, he couldn't take another risk at using the stove. If the house burned down, he and Beau would have nowhere to go. Obviously, they weren't insured, as the only insurance in Pleasantview was life insurance.

For a brief period, Dustin hired the services of the local nanny, Calista Despret. However, the little money they had left soon dried up. He only made §120 per week for his work running numbers down at the SimCity racetrack, and that simply wasn't enough. He would have to take care of his little brother on his own.

Dustin tried to keep on top of his homework, but he was fighting a losing battle. On top of everything else, he couldn't manage it, and he had to make excuses for his low attendance and homework return record at the public school. But he wasn't bothered. There were more important matters than schooling. He needed to focus on the needs of he and Beau at the moment, not that of the future. He knew full well that if he did make it anywhere in life, it would not be through education - that opportunity was long gone for him. The only smarts that Dustin possessed was street smarts, which he could only make use of with his criminal pals, Gordon King and Russ Bear. People made it in life via two ways - through a privileged and fortunate upbringing, or through wits, cunning and determination. Dustin was the latter. Would this be enough for the two of them?

However, it was not too
late academically for Beau, and he invested all his hopes, dreams and aspirations in his little brother. He was relentlessly encouraged to focus hard in education, so he can go to University and not be a complete screw-up like every other member of the Broke family. Things were rocky, and one more unfortunate incident may very well topple them over. Unfortunately, their fate was set to be filled with a few tumbles and unfortunate occurrences too many....

Chapter Two
A Difficult Ride Ahead

One cold, chilly night, when Woodland drive was deadly quiet, Beau was awoken by the ghost of his mother. She seemed to be trying to tell him something, but he couldn't figure out what it was. She took him to the window, and that's when he saw it! He saw what she was trying to warn him about: it was a slinking, black and white figure sneaking through the woods towards their house - a burglar! It was coming close to the family home. Luckily, the burglar alarm went off, alerting the trusty Sim State Police to his presence. Within seconds, a police officer arrived, engaging in a violent confrontation with the robber. It was fortunate indeed that Mum had installed a burglar alarm all those years ago, conscious of the seedy dangers of Woodland drive. It was one of the few items Dustin chose not to pawn off, seeing how necessary it would be.

'I kept the burglar alarm, cos I knew something like this might happen,' Dustin said to little Beau, as they walked out to the front yard, watching the burglar punching the policewoman in the face. In the end, the officer managed to overpower the robber, and, as is custom in such apprehensions, she asked if either victims could identify the assailant. She held the robber's face up to the light, and Dustin recoiled in horror - it was Gordon King!

Dustin had indeed been expecting a robber to come one of these days, but he had not expected it to be him. Gordon, who had been his boss, mentor; partner-in crime, and above all, his best friend, made Dustin feel hugely betrayed by his actions.

'You backstabbing, triple crossing, two timing cockroach!' spat Dustin, 'how could you do this to your friend?'

'Alright, I did it, ya hear?' spat Gordon, as the policewoman wrapped handcuffs around his wrists, 'but I ain't sorry. I AIN'T SORRY! A fella's gotta make a livin' any way he got! I'll be back out on the streets in no time at all! HAHAHAHA!!!'

'I'll be ready for you when you do,' replied Dustin. 'I thought you were my friend, my only friend! Guess I can't be sure of anything in this life. Take 'em away, girls!'

And ghastly Gordon was stuffed into the police car, which disappeared into the night.

As Dustin waved goodbye, he came to a horrible realization. Now that Gordon was going to Juvenile prison, that meant Dustin had nobody to report to down at the SimCity racetrack. It couldn't have come at a worse possible time, but it did. Dustin was out of work, and he and Beau were very hungry.

'It's gonna be a difficult ride ahead, Beau,' he said, turning to his brother, kneeling down and clutching him melodramatically, 'a difficult ride indeed.'

*

As most people do when they suddenly find themselves unemployed, deadbeat Dustin fell into a completely lifeless slump, partying away the pain of poverty and drinking down the distresses of destitution, desolation and despondency. He gained a bit of help from his friends, under the condition that they have the right to use his house as a twenty four hour party shack. Dustin agreed, and submerged himself in the revelry of Pleasantview's teenage community. It was around this time he began indulging in his long forgotten vice - two-timing.

He began dating a new girl without Lilith knowing - her name was Tosha Go, and Dustin had the strangest feeling that Mum wouldn't have liked her. He knew this to be so, primarily because her ghost kept appearing whenever Tosha was around. This made Tosha feel uncomfortable, and she rejected Dustin's sexual advances as a result. She simply didn't like the idea of Dustin's mother watching.

Chapter Three
Broke's Bonanza

As Beau grew up, the relationship between the two brothers grew past that of siblings and parents combined. They had survived through thick and thin, fighting the repo-man and social services side by side. To help take his mind off his hunger and despair, Dustin bought Beau an electric guitar, remembering his fondness of the xylophone as a toddler. Beau would spend his days honing his skills, practicing for the day he could become a world-famous rockstar, leave Old Town and tour SimNation. It was these kinds of aspirations that kept Beau going.

One day, the Brokes were visited with a taxi outside their home, and from it emerged a familiar face - Gordon King! He had returned from prison and decided to make a surprise appearance at the Broke home. However, he was a completely different person to what Dustin had once known - no longer a sly, cheeky young boy, he was now a serious and sophisticated man, who had acquired a University degree in Chemistry after gaining parole. Planning now to become a scientist to the likes of the next Mortimer Goth, he had big dreams, but he needed a place to stay until he could find his feet. He begged and begged Dustin to forgive him, but he was still full of anger over what he had done. Yet, at the same time, Dustin was in desperate need of money, and Gordon was his only real connection towards any kind of work. In the end, Dustin decided to make a compromise:

'Sure, you can stay here as long as you like, but you have to get me some work, otherwise, I can't afford to have you here!'

And so, he pulled some strings, and once again Dustin had a job organizing pickups and deliveries for Gordon's old gang, earning §560 per week. To celebrate, he began throwing rad parties, bringing every dope dude and choice chick in Pleasantview around. The Broke household was now the No. 1 hang out spot for every sick, wild, uncontrollable freak-ass teen. Dustin even wrote a rap song about it:

'There's an insanely high degree of people here, many of whom weren't present the previous year. In comparing the satistical information of those who were here the previous year, contrasting with those who were here this year, it indicates a strong positive trend of people coming here. Also, in noticing the correlation of the quantity of people here with the amount of friends I have, it begs the question: who the fuck are ya'll? What am I doin'? Oh yeah, that's right, I forgot - I'm doin' me! Yo!'

His rap career failed to make it, but that didn't stop Dustin from having a good time. The Broke hangout became a group called the K.K.K (Kool Katz Klub), with Dustin as their helmsman. Dustin, who had always dreamed of ruling a crime syndicate, was excited. The only terms of membership were that you had to be very cool. He had every rebellious, father-hating teenage girl invited over, enjoying the atmosphere of a dozen females around him, with none receiving more attention than the other.

However, two of those girls slowly fell out of interest in Dustin's gang lifestyle. Best friends Lucy Burb and Marsha Bruenig didn't like being treated as objects, and they spent a lot of their time in the sidelines. It was there they noticed Beau, who was also feeling a bit left out.

And so, the three became friends, but for Marsha and Beau, it secretly became more than that. She came by the household parties just to visit him, and they talked and talked until they got tired of the noise and went outside...

However, Beau still wasn't happy with the situation. He was sick of the sight of his home, where he could never get any peace and quiet. He hated the constant pressure to socialize and revel all the time, but most of all, he deserved better. He was an A+ student, he had a girlfriend and had been accepted into a music studio. He didn't want to spend his life rolling around in his own filth. If he didn't dig his way out of the dirt now, he never would.

He sent in a scholarship application to Sim State University, who was granted an Orphan's Assistance Fund. Along with a scholar's grant, Beau now had §10,000. To celebrate the good start, the Broke household, once again did what they always did, and threw a massive party. At said party, every girl was keen to get a piece of rich boy Beau, so he got down with both Meadow Thayer and Lucy Burb.

But then came the horrifying news: Marsha Bruenig would be coming over! Beau pulled a freak for she could not know what he had been up to! Whiping Meadow's lipstick off his face, he met with Marsha in advance before she managed to make it to the house, and they went for a joyride with criminal Russ Bear. However, the Pleasantview Police tracked them down, and bought them in together, back to the Broke house. Beau's cover was blown, and he was forced to reveal the truth of his triple-timing.

After the revelation, Beau fell into a state of depression. Not only did none of the girls want to speak with him, but he had an inescapable feeling that he was winding down the same track as Dustin. He loved his brother, but what motivation was he giving nowadays? He had once stood behind him in hopes he would make something, but now, he simply didn't care, and it was tragic for him to see. He wanted to be somewhere else, and he wanted to pursue something else. He wanted to make it in life. Deciding there was nothing left for him, he took his ten thousand simoleons and took the taxi to University. He didn't know what he would find there, but it had to be better than what was happening here.

Beau leaves behind a fragmented family household, but what will become of it? While he seeks a better life, will the Broke's household sort itself out? Will the girls he once loved ever make amends? Find out in future episodes of the History Pleasantview!

Series 1; Episode 7: Dustin the Wind

"For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return"
 - Genesis 3:19

Chapter One:
Dustin's Descent

After the death of her husband, Brandi realized that she would have to get a job. She looked through the papers, but she struggled to find one that she could manage.

There were opportunities at Sim State Hospital for nursing, but with two children to take care of, that seemed unlikely.

Was Dustin mature enough to take care of both himself, and young Beau?

To make matters worse, Brandi soon started experiencing pregnancy pains. Her third child was on the way, and she couldn't picture herself getting a job any time soon.

They had only 900 simoleons, and that wouldn't last forever.

Dustin had no choice. He would have to find work himself. His mother needed him now more than ever...

He began scouting around Pleasantview's seedy underbelly, and got into contact with a thug named Gordon King, who taught the young boy about hawking goods on the streets.

And soon enough, Dustin was out and about in town, looking for ways to acquire merchandise, meeting with Gordon and learning about the various arts - staying under the radar; spotting potential buyers, and learning how to make quick getaways.
Dustin didn't want to think what he was getting himself into. All he thought about was his sick mother, and their future.

Ask yourself. If you were in Dustin's position, would you do the same, given no other choice?

Chapter Two:
Dustin's Dilemma

Brandi soon found herself bed-ridden from her sickness for most of the day. This pregnancy was worse than the previous two, and she was relying in the support of her eldest son to take care of not only her, but Beau as well.

Beau managed by himself alright. He had taken a keen interest in music, prodding away at the Xylophone all day. This was a great help, because Dustin couldn't handle the thought of giving him endless attention, along with dealing with his sick mother, school, and working the streets.

As time went by, Dustin's life started closing in all around him. This was too much responsibility for a young teenager, and he couldn't handle it. He wanted a normal teen's life, partying; drinking; playing sports and enjoying nature.

Dustin wanted out. But his family needed him.

Chapter Three:
Dustin's Date

Dustin had begun dating a beautiful girl whom he had met at school - her name was Angela Pleasant, and they both shared a love of the outdoors. Angela was the sweetest, most well behaved girl Dustin had ever met, and she still didn't know about the dirty business he was involved in.

He was gussying himself up, because she would be coming over to his house. He was slightly nervous, but he was good at feigning confidence. Perhaps she liked boys involved in crime? Should he reveal this to her? Why hadn't he thought of this earlier? Now he was nervous.

And then Angela came over, and the first thing Dustin did was burst into tears; burying his face in her shoulder like a baby, admitting all of his struggles; the burden of his responsibilities; the hardship of his work, and his constant, haunting fear of what the future had set for him and his family. He sobbed and sobbed and sobbed, with Angela standing there, shocked, but patting him on his back.

Dustin was so incredibly embarrassed by what happened. He knew that you were never supposed to be direct with girls on a first date, and he supposed she would be so uncomfortable and uninterested in sharing his horrible life, she would look for the first opportunity to gap it.

But surprisingly, Angela stuck with Dustin.  She had never before met a boy so honest; so strong willed; yet so sensitive and humane. It was a refreshing change to find a boy who wasn't narcissistic and egotistical.

The two continued to date, with Angela coming around to his home. She was fascinated by Dustin, and all his experience in life. Dustin, in turn, was glad to have somebody who would listen, who would let him be just a kid.

Chapter Four:
Dustin's Distraction

As time went by, Angela had got to know Dustin's family, and she was determined that he learn about hers. Dustin once came to visit her grandparents, Herb and Coral Oldie, and they got along well.

But Angela realized she couldn't forever hold off the occasion when he should meet her own family, but she was afraid of what would happen if Dad learned that her boyfriend was involved in dealing illegal goods. But if she kept their relationship obscure, Dad would only become suspicious. Eventually, they decided to speak to each other over telephone.

Dustin and Daniel Pleasant didn't get along over the phone too well. Maybe Daniel was just overprotective, or perhaps he knew that he was involved in Gordon King.

However upset that Daniel didn't like him, this would not stop Dustin from seeing Angela. She was one of the only things that kept him going.

Concluding that her Dad was just being silly, Angela invited Dustin over to the household while Dad was out coaching the Llamas.

He dropped by the Pleasant household as soon as Angela told him it was safe. She said her sister, Lilith, would be there with her boyfriend, and maybe Dustin can get to know him, too. Dustin thought this would be nice, because he wanted more friends.

He was amazed by the Pleasant's home. It was like a palace to him. He had never before seen such a luxurious looking house.

The door had been open, but there seemed to be nobody there. He wondered where everybody was.

But little did he know, somebody was watching him....

He walked into the lounge, where the big screen television was turned on.
'Surprise.' said a familiar voice.
'Angela!' Dustin replied. 'You're dressed so... different'
'I'm not Angela, I'm Lilith.'
'Lilith?'
'Hasn't Angela told you about her twin sister? I guess I must not be worth mentioning. Nobody ever thinks I'm worth mentioning, not next to Angela, the angel.'
And before he knew it, he was learning all about the tragic life of Lilith; the way she had been mistreated and cast aside in favor of her sister; the way nobody ever took notice of her...

The two entered a heated conversation about the various troubles of life, and soon enough, she was making confessions - confessions to how she skipped school; snuck out; had even been arrested, and Dustin started to boast about his illegal businesses with Gordon King. Dustin felt a huge attraction building up in him that he had never felt with Angela, who seemed boring and lifeless by comparison.

And when Angela arrived back home, it was to the site of Dustin and Lilith making out.

She ran away, up into her own room and shut the door. She didn't know what to think. She had never been heartbroken before...

But something seemed to make sense; as if she should have expected this. Dad had been right all along... Dustin was a petty, criminal two-timer...

Dustin and Lilith sat down and started watching T.V, unaware that Angela was anywhere around. But Lilith had forgotten entirely about Dirk, her boyfriend, who came in, looking confused at the sight of Dustin.

'Sorry Dirk,' she said, 'I've finally found someone who understands me! Unlike you, Dustin is cool, and interesting. Go somewhere else.'

And so, Dirk Dreamer turned away. also heartbroken, but not expecting much else.

And so, the anger and frustration that had built up inside Lilith ever since she was a child had been unleashed that night; and it caused two broken hearted victims. The feelings she had for her sister and boyfriend were overridden by a desire to finally be the one who had attention, and she had seduced that out of Dustin.

And as for Dustin, his feelings towards Angela were all forgotten after meeting Lilith, who had used all her cunning to bring out his worst. What the future held for this couple; and for Dirk and Angela; they neither knew, nor cared.

Chapter 5:
Dustin's Duty

Dustin began spending more time out of the house, going all the way over to SimCity to crunch numbers at the SimCity racetrack.

When he wasn't getting himself involved with SimCity gangs, he was sneaking out with Lilith, partying and selling street goods. His grades began to slip even further; and Brandi became worried. She would call up homes; especially the Pleasants, in order to find out where his precious son was, but she didn't know most the time. Her sickness was getting worse, and Dustin didn't seem to be there for her anymore. She couldn't cope on her own. Why had he abandoned her?

One day, Dustin finally came home.

'Where have you been all this time, Dustin?'

'Working, so you can cope with the bills.'

'If that means you can't be here for me, then I don't want you to work! this job has consumed you!'

'Don't you understand, Mum? Pleasantview doesn't have welfare! I have no other choice!'

But Dustin wasn't doing this all for her. He wanted to live his own, teenage life; forgetting he had a bedridden mother and a baby brother. He wanted to forget all that, and escape into paradise.

But then Brandi went into labor pains, and was rushed off to Sim State Hospital.

She never made it back. She died during childbirth, and the third Broke baby didn't make it. The factors that caused the death was lack of support, and perhaps a broken heart...

The Sim Reaper had decided that, for Dustin and Beau, losing one parent wasn't enough. But Dustin saw it differently. He was racked with guilt over the loss of his Mum, as he was too absorbed with his own foolish lifestyle to forget what was truly important.

There was no escaping it now. He was all that Beau had in the world. He would have to become his protector; his father; and his brother. It was Dustin's duty from now on.

And so, we begin a new era of the Broke family. Will Dustin rise above the vices that lay ahead in his path, and or fall victim to them? Only time will tell. After all, he won't be alone...
